In addition to my work at PAY, I consulted for multiple organizations which helped me further build my skill sets. My consulting role as Senior Operations Officer at the Global Fund Program Management Unit of the Namibian Ministry of Health further solidified my skills in managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives. I successfully mediated between the Ministry and local organizations, ensuring that Global Fund grants were utilized effectively (and in accordance with the terms of their grants) to combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. This required me to be engaged in strategic organizational planning, as well as overseeing recipients’ execution of their programs, which entailed collaborating closely with management and finance teams, monitoring and evaluating recipients’ performance, and advising and guiding them (especially in instances when the recipients experienced challenges meeting their deliverables). I also co-coordinated the national strategic planning process with respect to NaCCATuM (Namibia Coordination Committee on HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria, the country coordinating mechanism for its multi-sectoral response to these diseases) and built relationships and collaborated with and gained buy-in from stakeholders including from civil society, UNICEF, UNAIDS, WHO, and various government ministries and other constituencies.
